The human behind the thinking.
I'm Robin Carter.
Lawyer. Founder. Creative director. Occasional overthinker with good taste in shoes. 👞
I've built businesses, advised on transactions worth more than I care to mention, and spent a significant portion of my adult life doing everything the way you're supposed to do it.
And somewhere in the middle of all that — I started noticing the games.
Not the obvious ones. Not the boardroom politics or the LinkedIn performance or the networking events where everyone's working the room and nobody's actually in it.
The quieter ones.
The story you tell yourself about why that conversation went badly. The way being right feels so much like winning, even when nothing actually changed. The gap between the life you're building and the one you're actually living.
I started writing about them. Not because I have the answers — I really don't — but because I've found that naming something is the first move in playing it differently.
That's what this is.
The Games We Play is a Friday Note series. Sharp observations. Real moments. No frameworks to buy, no programs to join, no five-step system to fix yourself with.
Just a space to think — for people who've done everything else and are smart enough to know that something's still missing.
If that's you, you're in the right place.
